About Pamela
Pamela began exploring the keyboard at the age of 5, learning to play by ear and improvising with the twelve-bar blues. Formal lessons eventually led her to study classical piano under Irma Kordinak of Willliamsville, NY, and later Carlo Pinto at the University at Buffalo. She received her B.A. degree in Music and English, with a concentration in music theory. Later, she studied the Suzuki method with Mary Handley, a former professor of piano pedagogy at San Francisco State in California. She taught piano and improvisation for over twenty years in the Buffalo area.
Since 2008 when Pamela completed her master's degree in Creativity at Buffalo State University, she shifted her focus from piano lessons to creative music education. Now her goals are quite different: helping students explore music through a lens of creativity and improvisation, and helping students discover how they can be a creative person - not just in music but throughout all areas of their life.
Pamela has written lyrics, composed and arranged music for small music ensembles, most notable for contemporary church worship. As a performer, Pamela has enjoyed singing and playing rock, blues, jazz, pop, gospel, hip-hop and new-age music. She has served as a church music director and performed on keyboard and vocals with area bands, such as The Roadrunners, and co-founded the all-girl original and cover band “Lemongrass”. She currently working on publishing a series of original pieces for piano, and recording and releasing songs from her music portfolio.
